Personality Types and Learning Styles of Female Students in Health-related Science Major

Abstract

|
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship of learning style and personality type of health science female students and recommend effective approaches to teaching education courses based on identification of preference types.
Methods: The MBTI and ILS were used to measure the preference type of students attending 8 different health science departments.
Results: The population consisted of 347 female students with data indicating the most common individual preference type of ISTJ while the most common group preference type among public health service fields was ESTJ. The most frequent learning styles were reflective, sensing, visual and sequential covering 18.4% of the population. In the relationship with MBTI, there were significant correlations.
Conclusion: The finding of this study have implications for teaching and learning strategies which seek to improve learning effectiveness.
